It's always fun to have children in the wedding party. You never know what to expect from them!
One time I delivered personal flowers to the hotel as the bridal party languished drinking wine and being pampered. As I was there someone noticed a little flower girl finishing a glass of wine! It turns out that she had been drinking the final gulps from the bridesmaids wine glasses. Of course the wine was put out of reach and she was scolded about drinking from other's glasses! I laughed and returned to the shop to tell the story.
Lesson learned...watch what the flower girl is doing!
Later I spoke to the Bride who told me the rest of the story...
The flower girl had indeed become a little tipsy. She stomped down the aisle t...
Recently my daughter Chloe and I took a class on glass fusing. This was my bought-on-Groupon Christmas present to her and she chose to take me as her plus one. The class is through Washington Artworks. Funny, knowledgeable teachers make this a really enjoyable evening class.
Sitting next to us was a young couple. At one point they revealed that this was their 3rd anniversary and that this was her "gift of glass".
"Really? You follow the traditional anniversary gifts from the back of the Hallmark Card calendar/planner?"
"Yes...whatever that is?!..."she went on to explain that there is a Traditional and a Modern selection for every year. This year her husband had gifted her a leather purse and she had planned this night ou...
There comes a time when your baby girl isn't a baby anymore. You've been though the play dates, the birthday parties, the sleepovers, the teams, the dormrooms, and you've fallen in love with all the friends. You've cheered their successes and cried with their tears. Now my daughter and her friends are college grads.
They are in the workforce, in graduate school, and yes...some are getting married!
So what does my daughter do when her friends announce that they are engaged?
"Hey, My Mom can do your flowers CHEAP!"
Hey, I've been a florist for decades. I couldn't wait to do flowers for my daughter's recitals and corsages for her Prom. Actually I nearly had a knock down drag out fight with her Prom date who insisted that he buy the...
Bridal Bouquets are chosen to compliment the fabulous Wedding Dress and of course the Beautiful Bride. Shown here are different types of dresses and the flowers that compliment them. I think too often Brides think of only one option...something seen at a recent wedding, or photograped with the dress in the Dress Shop. The shape , color, flower type, ribbons, jewelry, and greenery all add the feel, the emotion of the flowers to your wedding. Bigger dresses take bigger bouquets. Long cascades are challenging on short Brides and impossible with tea length dresses. Casual dresses, casual fabrics take loose, airy bouquets. Your floral specialist can help you with these choices.
